Terms of Service

How this service may and may not be used

Document Analyzer (“the Service”) analyzes potentially malicious documents and publishes the results of that analysis. By accessing the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Permitted use

The Service is provided for defensive information security purposes only. That means using it to understand, detect, investigate, or defend against malicious documents — for example incident response, threat intelligence, malware research, security education, or testing your own defences.

You may submit files you are lawfully entitled to submit, and you may use the analysis of those files for the defensive purposes above.

2. Prohibited use

You must not use the Service, or anything obtained from it, to:

  • develop, improve, test, distribute, or operate malware, or to evaluate whether malicious content evades detection;
  • attack, compromise, or gain unauthorized access to any system, network, or person;
  • harass, dox, or target any individual or organization, or to extract personal data;
  • break any applicable law, or any duty of confidentiality you owe to someone else.

Any use that is not a defensive security purpose is outside the permission granted by these terms.

3. No automated collection

Automated crawling, scraping, spidering, harvesting, or bulk collection of the Service is prohibited. This includes, without limitation:

  • crawling or enumerating analysis reports, sample records, hashes, extracted indicators, or any other content, whether by following links, guessing or iterating identifiers, or working from an external list;
  • using headless browsers, proxy networks, residential or rotating IP address pools, forged or rotated User-Agent strings, or any other technique intended to obscure the origin, identity, or automated nature of your requests;
  • circumventing, disabling, or attempting to defeat any rate limit, access control, authentication requirement, challenge, or other technical measure;
  • reproducing, redistributing, reselling, or building a derived dataset, index, model, or service from content obtained from the Service.

Programmatic access is available to authenticated users through the documented API, subject to its published limits. Use it rather than scraping the website. Search-engine crawlers that honor robots.txt may index the pages that file permits.

4. Submitted files

Do not submit files containing personal, confidential, or regulated information unless you are entitled to disclose them. Submitted files are analyzed and the analysis may be retained. We may also share files with security research community members. Treat anything you submit as no longer private.

5. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Analysis results are automated and may be incomplete or wrong in either direction: a file reported as undetected may still be malicious, and a file reported as malicious may be benign. Do not rely on the Service as your only control. To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss arising from use of the Service or reliance on its output.

6. Contact

Questions about these terms, requests relating to submitted files, and reports of misuse or of a suspected false detection should go to contact@analyzer.sh.

7. Enforcement and changes

We may rate-limit, block, suspend, or withdraw access at any time, with or without notice, including where we believe these terms have been breached. We may change these terms; the date above records the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
