The sample contains a VBA macro that executes upon opening the document. This macro constructs a URL by concatenating strings to form 'https://redm1az1.000webhostapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/dazxc.xevbs'. It then uses ADODB.Stream to download the content from this URL to a temporary file named 'itemstop.vbs' and subsequently executes it. The macro also creates a batch file 'itemstop.bat' which likely contains further execution commands.
Heuristics 7
-
VBA project inside OOXML medium 5 related findings OOXML_VBADocument contains a VBA project — VBA macros present
-
Shell() call in VBA critical OLE_VBA_SHELLShell() call in VBA
-
Document_Open macro high OLE_VBA_DOCOPENDocument_Open macro

CreateObject call high OLE_VBA_CREATEOBJCreateObject call
-
VBA p-code auto-exec with execution tokens high OLE_VBA_PCODE_AUTOEXEC_EXECCompiled VBA/cache stream contains an auto-execution token together with shell/download/object-execution tokens. This catches p-code-only or source-extraction-failure macro documents where visible source is unavailable.
